Dr. Jake Block serves as Associate Professor and Vice Chairman for Clinical Operations within the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. He is the Chief Medical Officer of the Vanderbilt Imaging Systems facilities throughout the Nashville area.
He graduated from medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center near his hometown of Norman, and then completed residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Vanderbilt. Following this, he pursued subspecialty fellowship training in Emergency and Musculoskeletal Radiology. He has directed the musculoskeletal fellowship training program and now functions as Section Chief of Musculoskeletal and Emergency Radiology at VUMC. He holds joint appointments in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as Emergency Medicine. He also holds an appointment as adjunct instructor at Belmont University in Nashville.
He has been a national board examiner for the American Board of Radiology, and has lectured nationally on the subject of musculoskeletal radiology. He contributes frequently to the body of research on these topics.
